Rainbow Shaker

I'm totally and completely in love with this card.  Let me tell you, there was a serious love/hate relationship going on with this card at Craft Weekend.  Let me tell you how the card is constructed then we'll get into the hate part.  There's 6 different shaker area on this card.  I wanted the colors to shake separately and to stay separate so I made 6 rows of shakers areas.  There was some math involved, it was early Saturday morning, each shaker area is about half and inch tall and goes across most of the card.  The strips of cardstock are on there to pretty much cover up the dimensional strips that create the 6 different shaker areas.  That part was done, they were filled with their rainbow sequins and I put a white backing on it.  I hated the way the white back looked.  It wasn't clear that it was a rainbow......I ripped the whole card apart and started again, tearing the back off the card, as careful as I was caused the sequins to mix together.  So for an hour I sorted sequins into their proper color group.  Here's the thing about craft weekend, you have the time to do that, had this happened at home I probably would have scrapped the whole card or bribed a child to sort the sequins.  All in all this card took about 5.5 hours to create, a lot of that time was sorting sequins.    

By the time I finished the card, I was pretty frustrated with it and not sure I liked it at all, even after all that.  However, as it often does, after seeing it on my desk, showing it to friends bringing it home, having it sit on my desk at home looking at me, I ended up loving it.  I love the colors, I love the white space, I love that it's diagonal, and of course I love all the sequins!  I often do this especially at home (I have a half completed card on my desk right now!).  If a card isn't going as planned or isn't working like you wanted it to, step aside, work on something else.  Let it sit.  Come back later with fresh eyes.  You'll see something you didn't before, you'll have new ideas sometimes it just needs to sit to be loved.  This ended up being my favorite card of the weekend, even after all the trouble I had :)
