Diagonal Border Cards With Karen Titus

Last week I was so excited to be invited to join Karen Titus on her weekly video on her YouTube and Facebook page.  Karen is one of my uplines, she wasn't the demonstrator who I joined Stampin' Up! with, I am in her third level downline.  Over the last 20+ years I've gotten to know her and her husband Tim at events and we always try to connect when she comes through Albuquerque.  Anytime Karen asks me to join her I'm always so excited!  She asked me to share a couple cards with a fun layout.  I have been going to this layout over and over again.  These are the cards shared in the video below.

The basic layout is super simple.  You need a card base and piece of DSP that is 5 1/4" x 4".  Trim the DSP in half diagonally and adhere it with the patterns reversed.  You can adhere them in any orientation of the card.  I have both a landscape and portrait card to share with you today.  This first card uses the Nature's Symphony bundle and the Lovely and Beautiful DSP.

I wanted bring in some of the gold elements on the DSP onto the leaves.  Before die cutting I splatted my Old Olive Cardstock with some watered down liquid Tombow Glue.  Let it dry-it will still be tacky.  Sprinkle with Gold Embossing Powder, heat and you have beautiful golden splatters.  It's an extra step that adds some fun shimmer.

The second card I shared uses the same bungle but this time I added in the coordinating Nature Walk DSP.   This orientation is in the portrait style too, proving this simply layout works great for any card.  This is also a great technique to use when you can't choose which side of the DSP to use.  Let's face it so many DSP have amazing patterns on both sides.  It's always hard to choose.

I have full supply lists linked below.  I'll list the basic measurements for the card.  Once you have the layout done, you can embellish the cards with any stamps, greetings, die cuts, embellishments and more!  Thanks again to Karen for having me on.  Make sure you check out our video on Karen's channel below.
