Flying By Rotating Pop Up Card

Yesterday I shared this amazing card that rotates and pops up.  So fun!  Well in my trial and error for that card I made this one.  It's pretty cute so I'm really excited to share it with you.  I'm not going to chat too much about the mechanics of this card, I've already done that whole blog post here.  The card is assembled in the same way as yesterday's card so if you love this one, head here and check out the details for how to make this card.

Once again I kept the outside of my card super simple.  My greeting on the outside is from the Comforting Thoughts Set.  I did some ink blending and some stamping with the stars from the Flying By Set.  Then you open the card and the magic happens.  The little alien ships rotate and 'fly' as you open it, it's so fun!!!  There are no dies for this set so you'll have to fussy cut the images, but that actually works in your favor for this card, because I fussy cut them I was able to keep a 'tab' on the bottom to adhere to my rotating circles.

Twelve Weeks Of Christmas Week 9-Christmas Friends Rotating Pop Up Card

We are getting close to wrapping up my Twelve Weeks of Christmas Series.  Today on Week 9 I have an incredible card to share with you.  I first saw this card by Barry from Mitosu Crafts I was so intrigued! I love a card with movement like this!  I have made many of these cards to work on figuring out the mechanism for you.  I've taken apart cards multiple times, many have ended up in the trash, believe me when I say this has been a labor of love to figure everything out.  I hope I can break it down easy enough that you'll want to give it a try too! The front of my card is pretty simple, you could easily dress this up as much as you want, I wanted a simple front with some DSP and a fun greeting.  I used the Mini Alphabet Dies to die cut a custom greeting, and I covered each letter in the glossy Fine Tip Glue Pen, that makes them look like custom enamel letters. Inside the card.......

...This is where the magic happens, as you start to open it, the card rotates and turns and all the incredible elements appear, as if you're a magical wizard!  For the inside I used the Christmas Friends Bundle.  SOOOOO cute!  The coordinating dies are amazing and have lots of fun pieces to them like the gift boxes.  My images are colored with Stampin' Blends-of course!

stampin' up, Christmas friends

Adhering the pieces inside a little bit of a trial and error.  You don't want them to stick out of the card when it's close, they can't interfere with the mechanism and of course you want them to be adorable.  When making this one I found that making my circles smaller worked better for me.  I was able to add in more rotating elements.  If your pieces are smaller maybe try bigger circles.  I added a gift card to the inside of this card, because why not!

I will stress that this card may require lots of trial and error.  I hope that my instructions will eliminate some of that for you, but before you jump into making your final card use some old or scrap cardstock to work on and play with the mechanism.  The more comfortable you are with it the smoother your card will go together.  I have a diagram pictured below with how to score and trim the mechanism so you can refer back to that when you make this card.

Bee My Valentine Pop Up Flip Card-VIDEO

I'm so super excited to share this card with you!  I'm always on the hunt for a new fun fold card so when I came across this one by Melissa on YouTube I was smitten. I couldn't wait to make my own!  I pulled out my Bee My Valentine Bundle and Bee Builder Punch for an adorable card!  I went with Night of Navy for my card base and some gorgeous Night of Navy DSP from the Mediterranean Blooms DSP.  Night of Navy is such a great base it makes everything else pop!  I love how bold and bright the bee looks against it and especially the pops of color from the Berry Burst.

I ink blended my background with some Blending Brushes and did some simple stamping.  The real star of this card is that center circle, when the card open the circle panel pops up and flips to be visible on the inside too.  It's such a fun card!  You won't want to stop playing with it!  I filmed a video on making this card because I didn't want to miss any of the tips when typing it so make sure to check out the video for the details.

Saying Hey With Wildly Flowering DSP

One of my all time favorite card layouts is a diagonal background.  It's so simple to do but so eye catching and fun.  DSP makes it super easy to do.  Since our DSP is famously known for coordinating it's the best option! I used the Wildly Flowering DSP on this card. This technique is also the best for mass producing cards.  I always make multiples when I use this layout.  The pattern is from the same sheet front and back.

stampin up, saying hey

To cut my DSP I marked it at 1 1/4" from the top on the left side and then again at 1 1/4" from the bottom on the right side.  Line up your marks and trim.  Use a piece of DSP or cardstock to hide the seam where they meet, just in case they don't line up perfectly.  You can make a less/more steep diagonal by adjusting the measurements on the side.  Just make sure you're marking the same on the top left as you do the bottom right.

To finish the card I used some Neutrals Sequins and Linen Thread along with my greeting that is both heat embossed and stamped in Moody Mauve.  Check out my supply list below.  You can shop for all of these products in my Online Store.

Twelve Weeks Of Christmas Week 8-Snowy Wonder Boozy Hot Cocoa Treat Box

It's week 8 of my Twelve Weeks of Christmas Series! We're in the home stretch now!  Today I'm sharing an adults only boozy treat.  If you wanted to modify this for kiddos, you can add some fun packaged marshmallows where the Bailey's is instead.  I think that would be a fun treat.  Today though, we're going to stick with the Bailey's.  As much as a teacher might love this gift, make sure you check with your school before giving alcohol for a gift.  Because the Bailey's is a little more pricy then a typical treat you might consider making this for your BFF, a good friend at work, or a host gift. Maybe you have guests coming into town, this would be a fun gift for them too.

I found my Bailey's at my local grocery store.  It was a 3-pack and on sale for only $11.  Not so bad! Check your local stores. I'm using hot chocolate in mine, instead of hot chocolate you could use some instant coffees.

I'm using the Snowy Wonder Bundle.  I have LOVED this bundle.  I'm also using the coordinating Snowy Scenes DSP.  This snowflake pattern is one of my favorites! I'm pairing it up with some fun pinks and purples for a fun pop of color!

stampin up, snowy wonder

I did lots of heat embossing on this, I love the bright white on the darker background.  The 1 3/4" Circle punch is the perfect size for the bottle to fit.  If you're using something other than Bailey's look at your dies and punches to find the perfect fit.  For marshmallows, maybe it's a square or oval that works best.

Be careful lifting this.  Support from the bottom, especially with the alcohol.  It's pretty bottom heavy, even though the bottom is reinforced, lift from the bottom.

Christmas Card Stamp A Stack In Person Class

Over the weekend I held my November In Person Class.  This class was sooo much fun, it was my annual Christmas Card Stamp a Stack! What an amazing class.  If you're local in the Albuquerque, NM area I'd love to have to you attend one of my classes.  Send me an email at stamperrdn@q.com if you'd like more info.

These are the cards my guests made at my class.  I don't have measurements or supplies listed, that's a perk for my in class attendees.

My guests made 12 card, 2 each of six designs. Because they were making a stack of cards the cards were kept simple, perfect for mass producing. My guests also received a full package of Iridescent Pearls to use on all their cards.

The first one features the Reindeer Days DSP.  This DSP is so cute on it's own.  I love that all we did was add a greeting to this adorable card! For an extra dose of cuteness we added a die cut gift box from the Reindeer Fun Dies.

The More Wishes Set is a fantastic set to reach for when you need to make a stack of cards.  The big bold greetings work great for this! I love reaching for some non traditional Christmas colors too.  To get the ombre look of the 'Christmas' greeting ink and stamp the first one on the bottom of the cardstock then continue to stamp up the cardstock without reinking.  You'll get a great variety of colors.

I love to add fun folds to my classes and this super simple fun fold is so quick to make.  The white piece is a note card from the Basic White Note Cards and Envelopes.  Because they're slightly smaller it's easy to add it to a card base and make a fun fold.  I used the Humble Home Bundle for this cute card.

The Take a Bow DSP is hands down my most used DSP in the Mini Catalog.  I won't even tell you how many packages I've gone through.  I love that the patterns mix and match so well too.  This is a fun card to make.

The Peaceful Evergreens Bundle in the Mini Catalog is perfect for Christmas. The trees are gorgeous and make amazing and quick cards.  The background piece is embossed with the Snowflake Sky Embossing Folder for added texture.

Finally, last but not least.  I pulled out lots of products for this card.  The stamp and tree die are from the Merriest Trees Stamp Set and Dies.  The DSP is from the Snowy Scenes package and probably my favorite pattern in the package.  The bells stamped on the Poppy Parade piece are from the Reindeer Fun Stamp Set and the background is embossed with the Forever Plaid Embossing Folder.  Lots of products makes for an incredible cards!

Thanks for looking, see you soon!!!

Twelve Weeks Of Christmas Week 7-Christmas Friends Flip Card

Welcome to week 7 of my Twelve Weeks of Christmas Series!  We've done lots of boxes over the last couple of weeks so I wanted to share another fun fold card with you.  This one is so much fun and I promise you'll love playing with it as much as I do!  I'm using the completely adorable Christmas Friends Bundle.  O. M. GEEE. I have loved using this set so much!  If you're making a stack of cards the polar bear is a good one to use, I think he requires the least amount of coloring so you can get a bunch done in a small amount of time.

stampin up, christmas friends

I'm using the Thoughtful Journey DSP from the Annual Catalog.  This DSP is not Christmas themed however the watercolor patterns create a beautiful neutral background.  I used a blending brush and Pool Party Ink to ink blend the bottom of my white squares, this adds a nice base to the piece so that the bear doesn't look like he's floating.  For an extra wintery look I added snowflakes from the Snowy Wonder Dies.  The magic of this card happens when you pull the tab on the side.

The card 'flips' open to reveal a hidden sentiment and even more fun die cuts from the Christmas Friends Bundle. You could easily add a gift card pocket on the inside of the card if you wanted.
