Nest Full of Eggs

I've actually gotten a lot accomplished this week. It didn't feel like it at first but looking back I'm actually a head of schedule!
I planned all my Christmas cards for the my Christmas Card Stamp a Stack in September, I still have a couple spaces left by the way, contact me if you'd like more details. They are awesome by the way!!
I got the baby announcements done, well I've gone as far as I can go with them until baby comes.
The crib is put together.
I've done a load of blankets.
Toys are organized and the room is coming together really nicely. We don't really have theme in the room. There's lots of Disney and lots of zoo animals, but no real theme. Logan's room didn't really have a theme and since we're using alot of the same stuff from him, we just didn't go with any special theme.
But all that's left to do now is more laundry, and putting the bookcase together and the books away. So we're really ahead of schedule and with 10 weeks left I'm feeling really good about the progress we've made. So maybe in the next few weeks I'll have more time for stamping! We'll see though. I still waiting for my Holiday Mini Catalog preorder to get here. I'll defiantly have lots to show you from that! Can't wait for it to come! Come on UPS!!!

But for today's card I thought I'd pull out another one of those 'rarely' used sets. This sets I've NEVER used, and I've had it for months! I really love it too. I have to say that I thought Cherry Cobbler was going to be my new favorite color of the new colors but Marina Mist is AWESOME! I love this color!! It's the perfect blue, it just goes with everything! I LOVE IT!!
Isn't this card sweet and simple? This would make a great make and take or if you need to make a ton of cards this would be perfect.

I used my ink pads and blender pens to color the nest and eggs. I gotta say again, I love Marina Mist! I also used my color spritzer tool all over the base of this card and on the inside too. I thought it resembled the speckles on the eggs nicely and added a nice touch.

I think I'm going to go nap. I'm ahead of schedule and I feeling good so I'm gonna go rest while Logan naps too. Or maybe I'll stamp........

Perk Up!

I'm not entirely sure where to start this post. I don't really have any exciting news to share so we'll just jump into today's project.

In my stamping frenzy on Wednesday I made this card. I went a little crazy with the color spritzer on this card, yesterday's card and the card I'll show you tomorrow. I just LOVE that tool!! And I keep it right on my desk so it's so handy! Seriously though if you don't have it-GET IT! You too will love it, I'm not sure why I waited so long in getting it! Today's card is very masculine, I think anyway. Lot's of browns, clean lines and NO ribbon. Which scream masculine card to me.

As I was putting stamp sets away I found this one in the back. This poor forgotten stamp set, which I actually really like. So I decided to pull it out and make a card with it. So often I find myself only using stuff I just bought-stamp sets included, and I forget about those great rarely used sets. So I'm making it a goal to reach into my stamp cabinet at least once a week and use one of those stamp sets that haven't seen ink in a while. While it's a good goal to have, don't hold me to it too much. As life gets crazier and crazier in the next few weeks/months I may not be able to keep to it as much as I hope I can. But I really like how this card came out.

I stamped the image and greeting on the vanilla piece then crumpled it up and sponged it with Crumb Cake ink. Just gives it a more antique like look. Wow did that make sense? The only thing I would have done differently is put the brads a little lower down. I think they're too close to that Crumb Cake CS, but that also may just be me being overly critical of my work. Overall it's a simple card that I did in minutes and I really like it. This layout would work for any of the images in that stamp set.

Well that's all for me now. I'll be back tomorrow to show you the 3rd card I made in my craftiness yesterday. And I'm so proud of myself, my desk is clean. I made sure it was clean after I worked yesterday and it's so nice to look at when it's clean!

Concord Daisies

It's been a while since I've posted and I apologize for that. Things have been really crazy. On top of trying to deal with all the new medical issues from this pregnancy I decided to take on putting the crib together by myself :) Well after looking at the crib and all the hardware to put it together for about 30 minutes I finally remembered how to do it! So I started assembling the crib and in the middle of working on it I broke the wood piece that the mattress sits on. Yep, I should have known better not to tackle that task by myself but I really thought I could do it. Fortunately it looks like my Dad will be able to fix the piece and we'll still be able to use it and won't have to get a new crib. Thankfully since that's defiantly not in the budget. So I will not be putting together furniture anytime soon, at least not by myself. We still need to put the book case together and so Dan will have to do that one. I'll focus on getting all the baby clothes in the laundry for now, that I know I CAN do! That was yesterday, today I decided to take it easy and stamp. So here's one of my cards I made today.

I love this stamp set and I always seem to emboss the daisies when I make it. I just love the look of it. I love all the little details on this card too.

It's a little difficult to see in the picture, but after I embossed I stamped it again in Versa Mark but a little off so that I get a shadow look. I love that!

Then I used my color spritzer to add a little extra texture to the Pear Pizzazz cardstock. And how much do I LOVE the new Stitched Poly Ribbon? LOVE IT!! It's so easy to use and I thought it wouldn't be. I can't wait to get more of this ribbon!!!!

Diaper Bag

Where to begin.....hmmmm...what a week it's been. It started with an ultrasound on Tuesday where baby was showing to be growing bigger than it should be, measuring at 30 weeks instead of 28 and showing I have fybroids too. Then Thursday it was glucose test number 2 that came back with high numbers and we found out I'm anemic. So iron pills have been added to the list of pills I take everyday. I'm pretty much a walking pharmacy at this point, and with the amount of iron I'll be taking I better not go through any metal detectors :) My doctor wants me to go in for the 3 hour glucose test but I know I can't do that one. You have to fast entirely for that one and I just can't fast, I'll get sick and throw up and then the test won't matter anyway. So I'm waiting to hear back from the Dr about what to do with high blood sugar numbers. I'm guessing a trip to the specialist in this area and major diet changes are in order (though I'm not eating unhealthy as it is-snacks consist mainly of fruits or veggies, meals aren't unhealthy. Though I do indulge in the occasional ice cream it's not an unhealthy diet). This pregnancy cannot end soon enough as far as I'm concerned. I'm now 29 weeks but the end still seems soooo far off. I just hope someday I'll be back to normal. Someday I will wake up and not be nauseous....right? But in my efforts to get ready for baby I headed over to my parents house today to enlist my Mom and her sewing skills to make my diaper bag. I had the vision she had the skills.


I'm very pleased with it. It took a while to find the right fabric, but I think we did a good job. The outside is made with the square scallop die for the big shot. I'll be making little things to add onto the diaper bag. I did get one of our simply adorned charms for it. It was going to go on the zipper but we decided not to do a zipper so I may just make a little charm with it to to hang off one of the straps instead. This bag was made in only one day too!! I arrived probably around 9am and we were done by 2:30 including a break for lunch and trip to the store to get batting.

Isn't it cute though, it's hard to tell in the picture but the brown fabric is ruffled up along the top. There was lots of talk about adding buttons where each of the squares intersected but we decided against that too.

We added pockets inside for little things too. I used the scallop die for those too. It's super cute and I really love it.

So next on the list to get ready for baby: put together crib, laundry and organize toys. Then I think we'll finally be ready :)

That's all here. Hopefully things will start to look up for this pregnancy. As far as I know baby is still doing ok in there, the doctors haven't said otherwise, it's the rest of me that's falling apart :)

One Big Meeting and One Tiny Project

Last night was our Demonstrator Downline Meeting. I know that I say this every month and every month I truly mean it, but I am fortunate to be in the best group of demonstrators! I always look forward to the meetings and I always leave energized and excited!!

My upline Amber started the meeting sharing about convention, I was so bummed I missed it but with baby due in just a few months, traveling wasn't an option :( Next year's probably out too since baby won't even be a year old but I have my sights on Leadership 2012!! But back to the meeting, Amber shared about convention and we all chatted and had a great time!! The demos were AWESOME!! Everyone did a great job and we even had some new people demo this month which is always exciting to see. For some unknown reason to me I didn't get pictures of the demos, I know Amber did though so I'll see if I can round them up for you :)

We had some new people in our group last night so we went around and introduced ourselves and told our story of how we became demonstrators. So by the end of the meeting we were all reminded of how great it is to be a demonstrator and all the different reasons people sign up. I signed up almost 7 1/2 years ago. I had just gotten married and I didn't want a "real" job. I wanted a job that had flexible hours and that I could have fun doing. I had been stamping previously but not with SU products. My mom remembered attending a SU workshop before and so we went online and found the companies website and found the demonstrator closest to me, which was Amber. So I met her and signed up. 7 years later I'm so glad I did! The SU family is like none other, I've met amazing people through SU, I've overcome a fear of talking in front of people. When I first started I was so nervous when I would do a workshop but now if you put a stamp in my hand you can't shut me up!!! :) I LOVE being a part of the SU family and I would love to talk to you about joining the family. There's so much freedom in doing this, being able to set your own hours and work when you need to or want to is such a blessing and I've been reminded of that fact more this year than ever before. Between having to take months off for being incredibly sick to taking some time off in a few months after baby comes. There are no words for the joy I feel for this company, I'm so glad I'm a part of it! Wow, I've been rambling for a loooong time. I bet you're ready to see the 3 minute demo I did last night right???

It's super cute. I adapted this idea from a Big Shot die and did it with our punches!! I made this box using the petal card die and I loved it!! So when I got the new Petal Card Punch I had to make a tiny version of the box.

It is teeny tiny but isn't it adorable?!?!?! I used some of the new Subtles DSP for this one and our new Vintage Brads-LOVE THOSE!!!! The box is super easy to make. You'll need to punch 4 Petal Cards, trim off one of the petals on each one. Then you'll create the box simply by putting adhesive on the petal that's on the opposite side of the petal you cut off. Line up your 4 petal cards glue the cut side of one to the petal that has adhesive on it on another one. I hope that makes sense if you're totally confused leave a comment or email me and I'll do a quick tutorial for you.

The top and bottom don't need adhesive unless you want to put some on the bottom just in case, but they inter lap and close so easily. I did put some adhesive on the bottom of mine because It wasn't sitting flat. So what on earth do you put in this teeny tiny box......

Chocolate-of course!---Why would you put anything else?? These are the little tiny candy bars, and they fit perfectly!!

You could also do other chocolate. At the meeting, Pam suggested Hershey Kisses, you could fit a few M&M's. You may even be able to fit a Stampin' Spot in there. I'll have to test that :) My hope is to make a bunch of them in Christmas DSP and stamps and attach linen thread to the top and make little ornaments--HOW CUTE WOULD THAT BE!!!?? I can't wait to do that! I'll make sure to post when I make those! I'm giddy just thinking about the little Christmas chocolate boxes!!

Luxurious Birthday

This week is jam packed with some fun and some really not so fun activities. I'm not sure when I'll get a chance to post again but I wanted to get this card up, since it's been a few days since I posted something.

This morning I had an ultrasound, that showed baby is growing bigger than it should be at 28 weeks. Baby is measuring at 30 weeks. The ultrasound tech also found a small fibroid while doing the ultrasound. My doctor will get all the info on me tomorrow and we'll see what happens after that. Thursday morning I have to go do my second glucose tolerance test. I HATE this test. Not only is the orange stuff you have to drink really gross but then you have to sit and wait an hour before they draw your blood. So guess I'll be taking a book or the catalog to look at (you can never look at it too much right?). So that's the not so fun stuff this week the super fun stuff this week is our demo meeting Thursday night. I'm working on my 3 minute demo hopefully I'll have that to show you later this week. But I can't wait for this meeting, I can't wait to see and hear all the convention news from those in our group that went this year. Also tomorrow morning I'm going to the aquarium with my friend Jennifer and her son. I'm really excited about it. Logan loves the aquarium and I haven't seen Jennifer in a long time so I'm looking forward to catching up.

When I got the catalog it took me a couple of weeks to decide which of the new DSP I wanted to get first. They're ALL so great!! I finally picked 3 or 4 packages. The Lap of Luxury DSP was one of them. Mostly because I just love pink so I choose that one. But the package is so pretty and has so many pretty patterns in it.

This is the first card I made with it. I've said it before, I'm not a purple lover but I really love the new Concord Crush In Color.

I used the large and normal size scallop circle punches for the flower, crumpled up the paper, added a vintage brad and just like that you have a super easy pretty flower! I ran the DSP squares through the Square Lattice Folder to give it more texture but it would look great without that detail too.

Lots to do this week. Fortunately we don't have a swap this week because of our Left Behind Swap last week, I'm not sure I would have time to get a swap together by Thursday if we were doing one. Now it's back to baby announcements for me. People keep telling me that October will be here before I know it, doesn't feel that way but I better get the announcements started just in case it sneaks up on me :)

The day of the Left Behind swap I saw a card online that I LOVED and couldn't wait to make for myself. Then Kim had a similar version of it at the swap. I loved it so much and couldn't wait to make it. The card I saw was on Stampin' Connection, an online resource for demonstrators only. But the creator, Darlene, also left a link to her blog so that's where I'll send you. It was one of the cutest things I've seen done with the little owl punch. I was so happy!! It was sooo cute!! So yesterday in a crafting frenzy I made one and I couldn't be happier with it.

Now if I had the Woodgrain Background stamp I would have used that but since I didn't have that I used the DSP from the Woodland Walk DSP. Guess I better add the Woodgrain BG to my never shrinking wishlist :)

The Left Behind Swap

We had such a great time last night! We started with a little stamping then talked to our group in Salt Lake via Skype then back to some stamping. It was so much fun. We laughed and talked and we just hung out. It was a blast! Then as we were packing up and getting ready to leave Kim 1 got a text message from Pam (at convention at the awards ceremony) that said our sideline Joanna from Arizona was the number 10 rising star this year!! YAY JOANNA!!! This is one of the best awards SU gives. Not only does it have a cash prize but it means Joanna has also earned the Founders Circle trip, which is another amazing trip from SU. It's a week of stamping and pampering in Southern UT with only a few of SU greatest demonstrators! The award is based on sales, recruiting, and promotions of yourself and your downline and you have to be a demonstrator less than 18 month or a year ( I can't remember that part). So it's an award you can only earn once and we're so happy and proud of you Joanna!!!! Congratulations!!!! Yay!!!

Back to our night of stamping. We had a lot of fun! We made a bunch of great cards!

This one was Vanessa's (I think). We stamped the medallion in Vanilla Craft ink then highlighted some spots with glitter!! I love glitter!! So pretty!


This one was Kim R. There were 3 of us that used this flower and Marina Mist for it! Can you say we're pleased with this set and color-umm I think so!! The flower is popped up off the stem, so pretty!

This was Michelle C's card (one of them, she did 2, one for her and one for her new downline Nicole). We used watercolor paper and colored the flower with watercolor pencils and blender pens.

This one was Michelle's. There were a bunch of new products I've never used on this card, the grommets, the newsprint paper. I loved it-learned something new!!

This was Corrina's, there's that flower and Marina Mist again! But don't you just love it!!?? My card from yesterday was the other Marina Mist flower card.

This was Michelle's C's other card. You can't tell in the picture but the black CS is embossed with one of our texture plates. So pretty!! Those are the new paper flowers too. I have to say I was really impressed with them.

This is Kim S's card. SOOOO ADORABLE!! The little owl poking his head through!! LOVE it. This is the card I made. I think I may have been the only one not drinking beer or wine.....

This is Michelle C's owl after perhaps too much wine? He's so cute though even with his mixed up look on his face!

This is Mindy's card. Isn't it cute. I really wasn't a fan of that hostess set but I think it's growing on me. We used glitter again on the cupcake-gotta love the glitter!!

So we had a blast and a big thanks to Michelle C for letting us use her house for our swap. Thanks to the ladies in SLC for skyping with us-it was great to see and talk to you! And a HUGE Congrats to Joanna for being a rising star!!!! We love you Joanna! You're amazing!!

I'm Left Behind...

Well not so much left behind as I just couldn't go, to the SU Convention this year. Seeing all the pictures from everybody is really making me bummed I'm missing it though!! I'll probably have to miss next year too, since the baby won't even be 1 year old then. Oh well there's always Leadership 2012!! That's my goal for my next event, unless SU brings a regionals here...... But for those in our group who weren't able to get to Convention this year for whatever reason, we're getting together tonight and doing a 'Left Behind Shoebox Swap' I think it's such a GREAT idea. I can't wait for tonight!! For a shoebox swap we bring one made sample and the supplies for everyone to make the card. Here's my card, yep there's my new favorite stamp set again-Because I Care!!

Isn't it cool?? I just love the way it's colored, and guess what I used to color it?!! Hmmm, give up? I used q-tips!!! Isn't that just super duper uper cool!!?!?! I tried it with sponges and sponge daubers but it didn't get into the little crevices like I wanted and it just wasn't the right look. So I thought we could do pastels, but then I remembered I don't have the new pastels yet. Hmmm, so I was stuck-but then I thought let's try a q-tip, that's what I would have used to apply the pastels so we'll just try it in ink instead and WOW I loved it!!!

It's super easy, just open your ink pad and use your q-tip just like a sponge.

I pounced on my image with the q-tip to get the look I wanted. I just love it!!!

Now with the Marina Mist. Isn't it a cool look. Ok I'll stop going on and on about it. I hope everyone tonight thinks it's as cool of a technique as I do!

Because I Care....Times Two!

We had a super productive weekend here. I planned our Christmas Cards and Baby Announcments. Now I just have to order supplies and make them. We also cleaned everything out of the baby's room that doesn't need to be in there. Including but not limited to, my wedding dress, an old computer, an entire set of Encyclopedias, my high school graduation gear (cap, gown, assorted ropes and sashes of which 10 years later I have no clue what they were for-note to self, next time label stuff like that) and a bunch of other odd and assorted items. But all that's in there now is baby stuff. We'll still have to empty the room of the baby stuff to set up the crib, then put all the baby stuff back in the room-but at least everything is where it's supposed to be now! AND I cleaned my stamp room!!! YES my desk looks like a desk and I finally got all my stamp sets put away-well most of them. I had a bunch, probally about 20 sitting out on top of my stamp cabinent and then another 5 or so sitting on my desk that I was using. So I put away the 20, spending time to reorganize and put them in their proper spot not just thrown in there and looked up was so happy-after months and months all my stamp sets are put away!!! Then I turned around and saw the 5 on my desk--uggghhh--oh well I'm using them right now so they don't need to be put away right now :)

I'm really, really, really loving the new Because I Care Hostess set!! The best part is I got it for FREE!! I been making a bunch of cards from this set-I just love it and can't help it! I copied both of these cards from a variety of places, and unfortunatly I can't remember where I saw them. But I love them both. They're pretty different and show the versatility of this stamp set! Here's the first one.

Isn't it cool? I just tore a square out of some scrap paper and used that as a mask for the Marina Mist, Blushing Bride and Pear Pizzaz ink. I just stamped the flower over it in Early Espresso. So pretty!

The second one is super simple and you could make a bunch of these in no time! For this one I stamped the flower and did some quick paper peircing around the edges. For the ribbon, cover the back of the ribbon with sticky strip or SNAIL and then crumple and ruffle to your hearts desire, until you get the look you want.

Isn't it cool. Super Simple!!

I like them both but I think I like the first one better. I just love those colors!! No supply list today, everything is pretty self explanatory, but if you have questions on what I used please let me know.

Little Gingerbread Man

I'm totally loving my new stamp set Got Treats!! It's made to coordinate with the Mini Milk Carton die, which I'm sure I'll get to. But it's so cute and I had to make a card with it! So with baby announcements and Christmas Cards on the mind I thought I'd make a Christmas Card.

The little Gingerbread Man is sooo cute!!! I used the new Woodland Walk DSP on this card too. It's not made to be a Christmas DSP but with the green stripes it totally works! My other new FAVORITE thing in the catalog (well one of MANY!!) are the new pearls and rhinestones!! I JUST LOVE THEM!! They come with adhesive already on the back of them so all you have to do is stick them to your project. AND whats even better they're under $5 in the catalog and you get a TON of little pearls and rhinestones!!

I used my markers to color the gingerbread man then stamped it and used my sponges and new Crumb Cake ink to sponge around the outside of the card. It just adds some more dimension to the card. I love this card-the DSP, the Stamp Set, the Pearls it's just so cute!!!

I did finally get my new stuff on Wednesday. My poor UPS man, I think he was having a rough day. I heard the truck pull up and jumped up (probably the fastest I've moved in a long time). I was expecting 2 packages and I saw him get out of his truck with only one package-the small one too-I knew there was another one in there so I wasn't going to let him leave until I got it :) He was walking up to my door and looking at the little gizmo thing they have that you sign sometimes and I assume tells them what to deliver and where and when he got almost to my door he stopped and said to himself "What the ****" and ran back to his truck. Yay my second box!!! So all was fine, I sure hope his day improved from there! I know he made my day!!

Once I sorted everything and put most stuff of the stuff away I got to stamping right away! Logan wanted to use the new Owl Punch. While I was going through the box he just kept holding the Owl Punch saying "Mommy can we make an Owl, please Mommy" and me saying "OK OK OK just let me go through this box first." There was lots of ooooing and ahhhhhing (by me, Logan seemed only impressed with the Owl Punch). So boxes finally empty, cardstock put away, stamp sets-well they're still not put away :) We finally got to stamp on what I thought was a clean desk earlier in the day but was now covered with NEW stamps, accessories and so much more. We made room for us to make our owls and we got to work. Please don't look too closely at the desk behind the projects, it was/is a complete mess :)

Here's my first Owl-it's so cute!! I love the punch!!! I attached him to a 3x3 card. Then I thought, hmmm he needs friends, so I made 2 more cards just like him. Then I thought, hmmm needs a pouch to keep them in, so in literally seconds I whipped out my square scallop die and made a cute little pouch to put the cards and envelopes in.

Except for the fact that my bow looks a little wonky it's super cute!!!

There's a TON more new stuff used just on the little pouch and card. The stamp set is one of the new hostess Level 1 sets called Afterthoughts. The DSP is the new Subltes stack (which is AMAZING!!!) The brown ink and cardstock and ribbon is the new color Early Espresso. It's just super cute and I love it!!!

Logan also made an owl card, of course after all the anticipation. Here's his card.

His new favorite color is pink and wanted a pink owl. He also stamped the greeting on the inside. I asked him who he was going to give his card to and he said "I'm going to keep this one" His teachers at school have mentioned to me that he has great placement of facial features on his projects for a 3 year old. I didn't mention to them that it probably has something to do with the hundreds of little punched creatures we've made over the past couple of years :)
