Twin Birthdays

I have a quick post today.  Over the weekend Megan attended the birthday party of two of her best friends from school.  They're twins (if you didn't already figure that out) :)  They just turned 5 and I love their cards!  Perhaps a bit overboard with the gold but I LOVE IT!!!  I used the Little Letters Thinlits to cut their names out and addes some gold foil cardstock behind.  So pretty!!!

1800 Posts!

Today is my 1800th Post!!!  1800 posts--WHOA! That's alot!  Before we get to the othere 2 cards from my class.  I wanted to share that because of my 1800th post here AND 150 likes on Facebook I'll be giving away 2 stamp sets to one lucky winner.  These are 2 of the Sale A Bration sets, I have extras!  One person will win the For Being You set and Nature's Perfection set.  You need to enter at my Facebook page here.  There's a post on the page that will tell you how to enter.  While you're there make sure to like my page!
Now to the cards.  I shared the first two cards from my Gather Your Girlfriends Class yesterday.  Here's the other two. I love this first card.  All the greetings from this set are super cute and sassy!  I just love them all!!  The girl is colored simply with our Stampin' Write Markers.  Super quick and easy!
The next card is one I've wanted to do for a long time!  The coffee cups are made with the Curvy Keepsake Box.  Isn't that the cutest thing ever!  I wish I could take credit for this idea, but I've seen these cups all over Pintrest.  I'm not sure who the original creator was.

Gather Your Girlfriends

I had a class a couple weekends ago, it was called Gather Your Girlfriends.  I invited my guests to bring a new friend to my class.  The cards were all fun simple cards that you could mail to any friend.  This first one was almost a direct CASE from this card.  I saw it on Pintrest and loved it!!!!  I had to make it!!!  It came out so well I wanted to use it in my class.
The next one is a great example of the spotlight technigue.  I have used this sweet balloon framelit so much.  I think I might cry if it's not in the new catalog.  I love it!!!!  It's simple to do, stamp the greeting on the Coastal Cabana cardstock as well as the white card layer.  Die cut your balloon and line up the image.  That's it!!!  Super cute and simple!!!  You could easily make tons of these in no time!  I'll share the other two cards tomorrow!!!
Thanks for looking, see you soon!!!!

Owl Ideas

Finally to wrap up this week of owls, I made one last project for Michelle.  I created this little owl punch ideas book.  There's 12 different ideas on how to creatively use the owl punch.
Each page shows the finished 'owl' and all the other punches or steps you need to get to the finished 'owl'.  All 12 are pretty easy owl punch projects that are perfect for a beginner or advanced stamper.  Remember you can always use googlie eyes for any of the owl punch projects.  Often they're just as cute.
most of them are actual 'non' owl project but there are a couple of owl in there too!  I hope everyone who received this book loved it.  It was fun to make!!!!

Nurse Owl

This was another project Michelle requested.  I had made these super cute tissue holders way back in 2013, you can see it here.  These are the perfect gift for anybody suffering allergies, or is just plain sick :(  They're super duper cute!!!!  Again the owl is super simple!  I did opt for googlie eyes again on this one :)  Along with the convience of the eyes, I think it gives the owls a little more character, plus they're cute!!!
I did the sides a little different on this on then I did on my 2013 version.  I think I like the angled side a little better.  It really happened as a mistake, so I'm glad it worked out!  Here's the measurements for this owl holder.  Start with an 11x4 inch piece of cardstock.  On the 4 inch side score at 1 and 3.  On the 11 inch side score at 2, 3, 7 and 8.  Holding the cardstock with the 2 inch score line on the bottom cut up along the 1 and 3 inch score line 5 inches, then trim off those ends.  After you assemble your box you'll be able to angle your sides.

Owl Money Holder

With Graduation coming up this could be just the owl project you need!  Michelle requested a money holder with a graduating owl on it, in the Raton High School Colors.  No other instructions.  Well first things first what are the colors of the Raton High School. Well to find that out I contacted my only friend with Raton connections (that I knew about anyway).  I randomly texted Kim "What are the Raton HS Colors?"  Thanks to Kim I was informed they were gold and black.  This is the final card I came up with.
It's super cute!!!  The greeting is from the Hooray It's Your Day set.  It's made to be a birthday set but this greeting works perfectly for a graduation too!!  I embossed that in gold embossing powder.  Then I took the stars from the Perpetual Birthday Set and stamped and embossed them in clear just along the bottom of the card.  The owl is simple.  Just your standard owl with a gold foil vest.  His wings are the 1 inch circle cut in half and his hat is a 1/2 inch square with a gold brad.  So cute!!
Now where do you put the money?  There's a lovely slot insided that's perfect for holding some cash (or gift cards).  The owl belly band slides right off to open the card.  To make the card I used an 8.5x7 piece of cardstock .  On the 8.5 inch side score at 3 and 6.  Fold and assemble!  Easy!

Owl Paper Clips

Michelle's theme for her scrapbook weekend was Owls, so boy did my owl punch get a work out!  I have lots of owl projects to inspire you, you're in for a hoot this week (lol-so sorry I had to do it!).  I made 25 of these owl topped giant paper clips.  They came out so adorable, I almost ran to Staples and pick up my own set of jumbo paper clips to make my own :)  Who am I kidding I totally did that!
The owls are pretty simple-sorry for the dark photo :( I think someone (Logan) has been messing with my camera settings again.  I decided googlie eyes were way cute (and easier!).  His vest is just some DSP I happed to have scraps of on my desk and the little gold glimmer heart was again more scraps.  I love using up my scraps on adorable guys like this!
To finish him I just tied a little bakers twine around the paperclip.  He was done!!!  To make these  you'll need to punch 2 owl per paper clip, a front and back.  The best way I've found that they stick and stay on is hot glue.  I put a giant blog on the back owl then stick on my paper clip then my front owl.  It dries fast and secure.  SOOOOO CUTE!!!!!

The treat cups are filled with buttons, what crafter can't use more buttons!!?!?  This is a really cute gift for anyone and you can put anything in those treat cups and they're soooo afforadable!!!  I have more to share from Michelle's weekend, even though I wasn't there :) check back all week!

Koala Card

A couple weeks ago I received this uber cute card made by my friend Kim.  Isn't it adorable!!?  I love getting fun mail, who doesn't??!!  I did a card challenge over Lent where I sent 40 cards in 40 days.  I'm horrible at mailing cards (isn't that bad!) but after all the cards I mailed and all the wonderful calls and texts that I recieved from the people who received those cards it reminded me how powerful getting a card in the mail is.  I've been inspired since then to be better at mailing cards.  Let's start today!  I challenge send a card.  Just one, it can be any card.  I'll do it too!

Pop Up Class

It's Monday.  The post is late, I have no excuse :)  This week I have lots to share and it's all cards that were either made or planned by my fellow SU friends and demos.  A few weeks ago I attended a Pop Up Card class hosted by my downline Michelle.  I'm a huge fan of pop up, moving, fancy folding cards.  I love them all!!!   I really wanted to go.  I was not disappointed!  I had such a good time and I loved the cards!  I'm not sharing them all, I plan to CASE the ones I'm not sharing in my own Pop Up Card Class (coming soon!!!!).  The first one is a card is a box.  These are so fun to amke and I love the little punch art cupcakes!
I love the next card as well.  The front is simple and elegant.....the inside is amazing!!!
There's a pop up tea cup (non SU) on the inside.  How adoarable is that!!!  I have quite a few friends that would enjoy recieving this card!  So sweet!!!
Finally, I not sure what this style of card is called, but it was soooo fun to make and it has glitter paper!  What could be better!!!!?  Isn't it cute!!!!?  At the class I made 2 of each card, plus there's 2 I didn't share :)  So I left with 10 cards total.  Not bad for one evening of stamping :)  I'll have the winners posted in tomorrow post for the Sheer Perfection Vellum!!!

Old Olive Sheer Perfection

Over the next three days I have a small series of cards for you.  They all feature the Sheer Perfection Vellum that was available during Sale a Bration.  Maybe you picked some up free with your order.  If not, don't worry I'll have spares and I'll be giving some away, stay tuned!  All three cards that I'll share with you are similar in style but look very different thanks to the stunning patterns on the vellum.  The set today features Old Olive and the leaf pattern.
I made cooresponding envelopes for them too with cardstock.  I used markers to color the backside of the vellum then attached it to the card.  Attaching vellum sometimes gets tricky, you don't want the adhesive to show.  I used a small line of Tombow adhesive along the part of the vellum that would be covered with the glimmer paper.  So how do you win some of this vellum??!  Comment on this post.  You can also comment on Thursday and Friday's posts for more chances to win!  Let me know what your favorite accessory is.  I'll draw 2 winners, they'll each win their own package of the Sheer Perfection Vellum.  USA residents only please.  You have until Monday to post your comments, winners will be selected and posted on Tuesday.

Good Wishes and Envelopes

I really love this card.  I mailed it to a very special friend ;) So I know it was appreciated.  There's nothing super fancy on this card.  It's really pretty simple, but it's all the simple elements together that make it a WOW card.  First the Silver Foil Cardstock.  This shine on the card really changes the look of the card dramatically!  The simple embossed hearts only half the card gives just the right amount of dimension.  Finally the stamped elements add the pop of color that balances the card.
I ended up using my Envelope Punch Board to make a coordinating envelope for the card.  I made it in Blackberry Bliss to coordinate with the ink color of the greeting.
To add just a little sparkle to the envelopes I brushed them with the Wink of Stella Glitter brush Pen.  Finally for just a little extra added dimension, shine and detail I covered the hearts on the envelopes with some Crystal Effects.  That finished the card.  All the stamps on this card are from the Lovely Amazing You set, which I just LOVE!!!

Hello Flower

I told you I'd be back today with another post.  Last week was spring break, my sister and nieces and nephew were in town and we kept very busy!  I didn't get anything done that I intended to and now I'm really behind this week.  This week will be a busy week of catch up.  Over Lent I did a card challenge to send 40 cards, one for each day of Lent.  Sounds easy enough right?  I am the worst at actually getting cards in the mail.  But by the last day of Lent I had sent all 40 cards. WHEW!  Some of them were birthday and thank you cards but most of them were 'thinking of you' and general hello cards like todays.
I love these word framelits, but I find they're really delicate and fragile when you first take them out of the thinlit.  When I attach them to my card I either like to stack 3-4 of them to make them thicker and more sturdy or I go over the word with Crystal Effect like I did here.  After I ran it through the Big Shot, I put it through my Xyron Sticker Maker and then while it was on that sticker backing sheet I put a thin layer of Crystal Effects over it.  Let it dry completely before removing it and attaching it to your card.
The flower is really simple.  I used 8 hearts total, I stack 2 hearts together to make each petal.  This just adds a little dimension.  I did the same with the Daffodil Delight circle in the middle and topped that with a Black Candy Dot.
Thanks for looking, see you soon!!!

Mickey and Minnie Love

This is it, the last project from scrapbook weekend.  Possibly my favorite card.....ever!!!!  If you've been with me for a while you might remember this card that I made a couple years ago.  I'm having a really hard time decideing which I like better.  I tend to only make Mickey and Minnie from the back.  I think their faces are so complex that I'm not sure it can be achieved, to my level of Disney perfection, with punches, so I tend to steer clear of their faces and that's also the reason why I don't do other characters too.  I think I'm afraid of messing up a character really badly and boy that would be hard to face.  This card though, even though there's one minor mistake, I'm super pleased with!  It passed the Disney test!  The hardest part of doing Mickey and Minnie is the ear/head ratio.  The ears can't be too big/small for the head and ear placement is everything, they can't be too close or to far apart.  If you can't get the ear/head ratio correct, there's no use continuing, in my world anyway.
Surprisingly, there weren't alot of punches used.  Heads-1 3/8" Circle, Ears-1" Circle, Bodies-XL Oval, Legs/Arms-Word Window, Shoes/Hands-Small Oval, Skirt-Scallop Circle, Pants-Tag.  Some of these pieces require extra trimming, like the hands and shoes.  It's little details that just have to be done with scissors.  Some of you reading might be going: "This girl is out of her mind, she's some kind of crazy Disney lady."  It's true, both my husband and I are very particular about Disney--everything.  We used to work at DisneyWorld, it's actually where we met.  I don't know if I'm so much of an expert, certainly not as much as he is, but we're pretty particular about it all :)  It's probably why this is my favorite card!
Thanks so much for bearing with me over the last month while I shared the projects from scrapbook weekend.  I'll be back Monday will new stuff!
Happy Easter!!!
Thanks for looking, see you soon!!!!!!

Lovely Beaver

This was the first punch art creation that I made (I think) at scrapbook weekend.   He's so stinkin' cute!!!  I smile every time I look at him, look at his face, who wouldn't love that??!  Just adorable, that's all, just adorable!!!  I think I've always wanted to make a beaver with punch art, that should be everyone's dream ;)
Here's how he came together: Head-1 3/4" Circle, Body-Oval Framelit (smallest), Tail-XL Oval, Feet-Small Oval (retired), Cheeks-3/4" Circle, Ears-1" Circle, Eyes-Small Oval and 1/2" Circle, Nose-3/8" Circle, Arms-Word Window.  He's too cute, I just can't stand it!
Thanks for looking, see you soon!!!
