Boy is it an exciting day. Demonstrator can preorder new stuff from the new catalog and this year SU is sending demonstrators the new catalog early with their preorder--I am so excited I can hardly stand it. I'm going to be a mess this week waiting for it!!!!

So here's today's card! I like the look of this card. It's very vintage looking to me. The flower is done with 3 different sizes of circle punches. Then I have just distressed the edges and crumpled them up. Super easy! The DSP I used is the Bella Bleu DSP. Isn't it pretty?

Thanks for looking, see you tomorrow for Tutorial Tuesday!

PS-I do have a First Monday of the Month Card Challenge but I'll save that for next week. I wanted to spend this post focusing on the Last Chance List and my 24 hour sale.

Birthday Butterfly

Tonight is our monthly demonstrator meeting. We're doing a shoebox swap tonight instead of our regular meeting. They're really fun. For the swap you make one sample then bring enough supplies for everyone else to make your card.

I'm not sure how I feel about today's card. I think it came out nice but the measurements kind of bother me. I think I made the white piece too big or it needs another accessory or something. But I really like the hardware on the ribbon.

For the butterfly, I stamped it on a window sheet with staz on. Then I did the stained glass technique like I showed you in a tutorial last week. But instead of attaching the window sheet to the card. I pressed it against a piece of glossy cardstock. So all the colors blend together and give it a nice watercolored look. And just adds random texture to the butterfly.
Supplies
Stamp Set: Flores Suaves (Spanish Catalog)
Cardstock: Bravo Burgundy, Rose Red, Glossy White, Parisian Breeze DSP
Ink: Stazon, Bravo Burgundy, Rose Red
Accessories: Bravo Burgundy Ribbon, Designer hardware, Crystal Effects, Corner Rounder, dimensionals

Bundle of Love

I have been so busy the past few days I haven't had much time to stamp. Hopefully now that I'm done with my 'project' I can spend Logan's naptimes stamping like I normally do. The past 3 days, nap times have been spent organizing my blog. I've gone back through all my posts and put labels on them. So now if you're looking for a specific technique or you just want to see all projects with chipboard you can click the 'chipboard' label and be taken to that page. Now had I started doing that when I started my blog, it would have been soooooooo much easier. And I've been meaning to do it for a while but just haven't had the time. I finally started doing it over Memorial Day Weekend. I didn't think it would take that long. Well 3 days later it's done. It was just making me crazy. I had to go through almost 300 posts-Yikes, I've done alot of posting- and after staring at the computer that long, I was going a little crazy. So I could only do 100 at a time. Which still took a while. But anyway now it's done and hopefully it's easier for you to navigate through my blog. You can find all my labels on the right side of the blog on the bottom.

For today's card, I stamped it on Memorial Day when Dan had the day off. I made this card for Jennifer in our demo group. She had her baby boy a few weeks ago, not sure on the exact date, sorry Jennifer. But I made this card for her and her husband. I sure hope she likes it. I have a ton of buttons and I never seem to use them on cards, but I thought a baby card-it's a golden opportunity to use a button right?

I do like how it came out and boy am I going to miss that DSP and Baja Breeze when it goes in about a month. Just a reminder if you need any In Color products stock up now. They'll be some of the first things to go when the retired list is announced on June 1. Yeah that's only in a few days! You can order from my website or call or email me with your order!

Make sure to check my blog on June 1 for the retired list. If you're on my email mailing list you'll get it emailed. I'll be doing a 24 hour sale, June 1 ONLY! You'll get free shipping on all orders and orders over $75 will receive 15% off their entire order! So watch for the list out June 1.

Supplies:
Stamp Set: Sweet Celebrations
Cardstock: Baja Breeze, Kraft, Chocolate Chip, White, Parisian Breeze DSP
Ink: Baja Breeze, Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Clear buttons, Linen Thread, Chocolate Chip ribbon, colluzzle cutter, 1 3/8 circle punch, 1 inch circle punch, glue dots, dimensionals, Scallop Border punch

Tutorial Tuesday--My Favorite Box

Welcome to another Tutorial Tuesday. I spent the weekend thinking about what I would show you and as I was going through some notes I found the note with the dimensions for my favorite box to make. So that's what I'm going to show you. Why is it my favorite box? Well it's easy to make, but very pretty, and it's a great size, not too big and not too small. The finished box is 4x4 and 2 inches high. So let's get started.
You'll need an 8x8 piece of cardstock, I'm using Baja Breeze. A 6 1/8 x 6 1/8 piece of DSP (if you want a really snug fitting lid you can use a piece of DSP that measures 6 1/16 x 6 1/16), I'm using Walk in the Park. By the way there are only a couple days left of the DSP sale. Remember if you buy 3 you get 1 free! It's a great deal and a super way to stock up on your DSP. You'll also need sticky strip, scissors and 4 pieces of a coordinating cardstock (I'm using Basic Gray) those pieces need to be 4 x 1. I've used the scallop border punch on all of mine.

On your 8x8 piece of cardstock you're going to score at 2 inches all the way around it. Then your cut along the horizontal score lines until you get to the vertical score lines. I like to cut my tabs into triangles. See photo above for better explanation. I think it cuts down on the bulkiness of the box, and it's easier to assemble.

Fold along your score lines and assemble box with sticky strip.

Score your lid at 1 inch all the way around and cut the tabs the exact same way as you did the box.

I like to assemble my scallop borders now but you can also wait until your lid is assembled to do it. I prefer to do it in this step because I think it's easier to glue, but I have forgotten them and glued them after it's assembled, so whichever way you prefer works just fine.

Your lid should slide right on top. Isn't it so cute already!

Just a few embellishments. Some Baja Breeze double stictched ribbon and the bird from the Summer Love Rub-Ons.

Thanks for looking, see you tomorrow!

Faux Leather Handbag

Happy Memorial Day!

I have seen this Faux Leather Technique for a while and finally had a chance to use it! I found a great tutorial on it here. The tutorial is by Jackie Topa, she's so talented! I've had this purse pattern in my pattern files, I've been waiting for the right time to use it. I've had it so long I'm not even sure I know where I got it from. I would like to say the SU demo website but I'm really unsure, I've had it so long. So I'm not sure where to direct you to find it. I'm sorry.
So I traced and cut out my pattern on black cardstock, did the faux leather thing and finished my bag with some hardware.

It's a little hard to tell the faux leather in the photos but in person it's quite stunning. I encourage you to try it if you haven't already!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Black
Ink: Versa Mark
Accessories: Heat Tool, Clear EP, Bone Folder, paper snips, Black ribbon, Crop a dial, Hooray Designer Hardware
Thanks for looking, Have a great day, see you tomorrow for Tutorial Tuesday!

Rub On Fun

When the mini catalog was released a few months ago, I really really debated about getting the Summer Love Rub Ons or not. Well after a few months, I finally caved in a got them and boy am I glad I did, I only wish I had got them a long time ago. I made a couple of projects with them and they're just so nice.

I really love the Baja Breeze in them and I am sooooo going to miss that color. I think of all the SU colors it's my favorite and I can't believe it's going away in a month. Well until them I'm going to make the most of it and I did just order a new package of cardstock so don't be surprised if I'm still using it after the new catalog comes out. Well let's get to the projects. That's enough of me rambling about the colors.

The first one is a card that I made, I really like it. It's very simple and came together in just minutes.

The next one is a tag that I made to hang on my wall in my stamp room. Sorry the picture is so dark. It's a dark rainy day here.

Supplies:
Cardstock: Baja Breeze, Basic Gray, White, Kiwi Kiss, Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Summer Love Rub Ons, dimensionals, Big Shot, Top Note die, Baja Breeze double stitched ribbon
Thanks for looking, have a great, 3-day weekend, see you Monday!

Father's Tree

Yeah it's Friday!!! And it's a long weekend!!! Are you planning a big BBQ or maybe taking a trip? Or just spending the weekend stamping! Whatever you do, I hope you have a great time! I'll do a little stamping. We're going to a baseball game on Sunday. First one of the season for us, should be fun.
I have another Father's day card today. One of the things I love most about being a demonstrator is I usually have cards done early. That might sound a little strange, but I know my customers will be looking for ideas for Father's Day and I'm happy to get my cards done early to give them examples. When we do card swaps at our meeting it seems we're always a month or two ahead of schedule. We did masculine cards last month, we'll do Christmas cards in October, Valentines in December. So it keeps me on schedule. Isn't that great! Anyway enough chatting let's get to the card!

I received a card with this layout from a swap I did and I've always loved it. I'm drawn to those fancy, unique folded cards. The tree is stamped with staz on and I used a blender pen and my watercolor pencils to color it. The trunk of the tree has crystal effects on it to give it more dimension, though it's hard to tell in the picture.
Here's the unique fold of the card, here's how it opens.

Isn't that just one of the coolest things ever! I just love making this card!

Supplies:
Stamp Sets: Lovely as a Tree, All Holidays
Cardstock: Glorious Green, Green Galore, Chocolate Chip, White
Ink: Glorious Green, Staz on
Accessories: Blender pen, Watercolor pencils, Horizontal Slot plot, Chocolate Chip ribbon, crystal effects, dimensionals

Chatty Owl

I can't believe it's almost June. The retired stamp set and accessory list will be out June 1st. I'll post it on my blog on June 1 so make sure to watch for it! July 1 the new catalog will be released. I'm booking workshops for the new catalog, so if you want to get your hands on brand new hostess sets make sure to email me to book a workshop.

I have a super fun card for you today. I went a little crazy with the gel pen but I like how it came out. It's a pretty straight forward card so I won't go into great details on it. For the card I used the Loop to Loop rub ons from the level 3 hostess bundle.

Supplies
Cardstock: Close to Cocoa, Kraft, Chocolate Chip, Parisian Breeze DSP
Accessories: Loop to Loop Rub ons, White Gel Pen, Dimensionals, Scallop Border Punch

Thanks for looking, see you tomorrow!

Leftover birds

What a strange week it is turning out to be. On Monday poor Logan got sick during naptime, threw up all over his bed, himself and poor Pooh Bear that he sleeps with. After getting everything cleaned up, I let him watch Bolt for the rest of naptime. Then he was completely fine, so it must have been something he ate. Then Tuesday we're spent the day potty training. I had him in 'big boy underwear' all morning and we went to the potty every hour and read books and nothing. If anyone out there has tips or tricks that might work, I'd love to hear them.

But on to today's card. I finally got a chance to stamp on Tuesday. I haven't had a chance to stamp since Sunday. I try to get all my Tutorials for Tutorial Tuesday done over the weekend when I have a little more time. So yesterdays tutorial I had some leftover birds from the card I did. So since I need 3 Father's Day cards I made a Father's Day card. Father's Day will be here before you know it. I'm really pleased with the final result.

For the bird I brayered over it with Bashful Blue, then sponged Brocade Blue and Night of Navy around the edges.

Happy Father's Day on the inside. Hard to tell in the picture but the 'father' part of the greeting is popped up on dimensionals.
Supplies:
Stamp Sets: Spring Song, All Holidays
Cardstock: Night of Navy, Brocade Blue, White, Chocolate Chip, Good Morning Sunshine DSP
Ink: Bashful Blue, Brocade Blue, Night of Navy, Chocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa, Staz on ink pads. Ballet Blue, Creamy Caramel, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, Pumpkin Pie reinkers
Accessories: Crystal Effects, small paint brush, silver brads, Night of Navy grosgrain ribbon, 1/4 inch circle punch, dimensionals, sponge daubers, brayer

Tutorial Tuesday-Stained Glass

Hello! Hope your week is off to a good start. Here we are again for another Tutorial Tuesday. I'm using window sheets again. I can't stop myself, I just LOVE LOVE LOVE them! And it seems lately every project I make I use window sheets. I'm almost out of the first set I ordered-gasp!!! But don't worry I have another order coming with twice as many as I first ordered coming this week. So I'll still have plenty of window sheet samples-hee hee. I really hope they're in the new catalog in July!
But on to today's project. I'm doing a technique called stained glass. You'll need a line image stamp. I'm using the bird from Spring Song. You'll also need crystal effects and reinkers.

For today's project I'm using Creamy Caramel, Pumpkin Pie, Ballet Blue, Chocolate Chip, Old Olive reinkers.

Stamp and emboss your image on the window sheet. I've left the tissue paper backing that the window sheets come with on for the pictures, it makes it much easier to see.

Use a few drops of crystal effects and mix that with the reinkers. Just one or two drops of reinker-a little goes a long way. You'll have to estimate how much crystal effects you'll need.

Use a paint brush and paint your image with the crystal effects mixture, rinsing in a cup of water between colors. Set aside to dry.

I had a lot of my crystal effects mixture left so I stamped my bird in staz on and painted it the same way on white cardstock. I'll save these guys and use them for another project.

Once you image is dry, you can attach it to the card. My card base is Chocolate Chip and I have a piece of white cardstock inside so that you can see the image better.

This looks great in person!
Thanks for looking, see you tomorrow!
