March of the Penguins!

I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am about these guys/girls. They are so cute and really not that hard to make. I'll do a tutorial soon on how to make the boxes. I had planned to get on up today for a bonus but it didn't happen, I'll try to get it up next week. I made about 40 of them. For the details on the penguins, check out this post. I did this for my 3 minute demo at our meeting last night.
I made the pink ones to give to my friends from all different groups and I made the blue ones for my husband to give to his small group of co-workers. There's actually alot of people in his company but they have them in small groups so that they're more productive.

Here's an areal shot of them marching, don't go off the cliff!!!!

HOW CUTE!!!! It's like a penguin marriage made in heaven!

Here's the inside. They hold 2 Ghirardelli chocolate squares. I told you they'd be back this week.

Morning Soft Birthday

I just LOVE this stamp set. It's so pretty and so easy to watercolor. I have yet to see a card that isn't great with this set. You just can't mess it up. Plus, I'm excited about this card because it's the first card that I've ever made with the hat pin and accessories from the pretties kit. I've had the pretties kit for a looooonnngg time, and I've used the half pearls, the flowers, the brads but I could never figure out how to use the hat pins on a project--until now. And I love how it looks. Though the first words out of my husbands mouth when I showed him the card was-"That's gonna cost extra to mail with that pin thing" Fortunately it won't be mailed, it's going to be hand delivered.

For the flower, I stamped it on white with staz on then used my blender pen and ink pads to color it. I love how it came out.
Stamps-Morning Soft, Sincere Salutations
Ink-Bravo Burgundy, Always Artichoke, Apricot Appeal, Staz on
Cardstock-Mellow Moss, Always Artichoke, Bravo Burgundy, White
Accessories-Blender Pen, Pretties Kit, Burgundy ribbon, Mellow Moss taffeta ribbon, dimensionals, scallop border punch

Tutorial Tuesday--Ghirardelli Purse

Here we are another Tutorial Tuesday. Today's project is a Ghirardelli purse. Ok so if you follow my blog at all you already know that I'm a little obsessed with Ghirardelli Chocolate--well only the dark chocolate. I'm always looking for ways to dress it up, plus I think it's more fun to eat when it's nicely packaged. Make sure to check back later this week for more, FUN ideas to package these wonderful chocolate squares.
Ok to make the purse you'll need some DSP (I'm using the new Raspberry Tart DSP) it needs to be cut 7x6. You'll also need the round tab punch, some brads, something to score with and sticky strip. Don't forget the chocolate, I forgot to put it in the picture, but don't worry it shows up later!

Score your DSP. On the 6 inch side score at 1 and 5. On the 7 inch side score at 3 and 4. Don't you just love whole numbers? Cut the tabs on the 3 and 4 inch score line.
Here's a fun tip, when I'm creating a new box or bag I always test it on a piece of printer paper, that way I don't waste my cardstock or DSP. Plus then I can just file it away with the measurements on it for another use.

Put sticky strip on the tab that I colored blue. I had intended to take a picture with the sticky strip on before I took the red backing off, but did I remember--NO! So instead I colored the sticky strip with a permanent marker so you could see where to stick it, and it still stuck even after being colored. Isn't it great stuff?!

Assemble your box/purse.

For the handle, you'll need to punch 2 round tab punches, cut them in half. (They're really more for decoration than any really functional part of the purse, so if you don't like them, you can skip them.) You'll also need 2 pieces of DSP for the handles mine are 1/2 x 9.

Stick your round tab punches on the top of your bag on the outside.....

Then use brads to attach the handle. Do the same to the opposite side.

Ahhhhh.... here's the chocolate. I'm using 4 of the Ghirardelli Dark Chocolate squares. Cover them with DSP cut at 2x4 1/2.

You can fit 4 Ghirardelli squares easily, they're so nice and cozy!

Here's the purse all done, with some chocolate YUM!

Happy Monday! This is going to be a good week, I can just feel it. It's going to be jam-packed with activities, but they're fun activities so I'm excited. Here's what I'll be up to this week....

I have a workshop this afternoon at Onate Elementary School, I just love going there. The teachers I get to do the workshop with are too much fun. And I love coming up with cool ideas that they can use in their classes.

Tomorrow we're cutting for stamp camp. YEAH--it's coming up on Saturday, so excited!

Wednesday I get a night out to play bunco, always a good time and last time I won $50 so here's hoping it'll happen again.

Thursday is our monthly demo meeting. I look forward to this meeting every month! Plus this month I'm super excited about my swap and especially my 3-minute demo!!!! Watch out Ladybug INK it's gonna be good!!! Check my blog Thursday for my swap and Friday for the project I did for my 3 minute demo!! Then check on Saturday for all the cool swaps I'll receive!

Ok so on to the card for the day! I used the Botanical Blooms Sale-a-Bration set for this card. This set is so pretty and you can earn it free with only a $50 purchase starting on Sunday! This was a super quick card I made and mailed in about 10 minutes. It wasn't until it was in the mail box and I was looking at the picture that I noticed I forgot a greeting--AHHH. Ink-Baja Breeze, Pretty in Pink, Mellow Moss
Cardstock-Baja Breeze, Creamy Caramel, Mellow Moss, White

Heart to Heart card

How versatile are our punches? Well our punches are so great that you can make a card with just the punches. I really like this card. It's so simple and quick. If you ever need a card super fast, this is it.
So closed the card doesn't look too fancy but the super cute part of the card are the punched hearts. They're punched on the outside but they're glued on the inside. Look how cute!

I just love how simple and adorable this card is. There's still time to get the Love You Much bundle at 20% off. After January 31 it goes to full price. So if you've been thinking about it now is the time to get it.

Spring Pillow Box

So who's ready for spring and warm weather? I actually can't complain about the cold too much it's been in the 50's and 60's here recently. But here's a spring-ish pillow box treat. I think it would be really cute for Easter baskets, or to stick in kiddos lunch boxes.

The pillow box is cut from the big shot. Oh how I LOVE my bigshot. If you're interested in learning more about the bigshot or want to play with it. Call me and we'll set up an All Big Shot workshop for you and your friends! How fun would that be! I can't wait to get some of the great new dies in the catalog.

Ok anyway, back to the project. It's really easy to make. The flowers are from the scallop circle punch and the 1 inch circle punch. Punch a scallop circle, fold it in half and fold the circle in half over it. Super easy.

Supplies
Cardstock-Old Olive, Summer Sun, Close to Cocoa, Certainly Celery
Scallop circle punch, 1 inch circle punch, pillow box die, big shot, old olive ribbon

Gift bag with cards

Here is a super cute, and surprisingly easy gift bag with cards to make. I made 4 cards with envelopes to go in mine but it will hold a LOT more. Here's the whole set together. I kept my cards really simple, just used our circle punches and rub ons to finish.

Here's the bag, so cute! To make it you'll need 3 pieces of cardstock. 2 cut at 4 3/4 and 6 (this is your front and back) and 1 cut 4 3/4 x4 (this is the bottom). On the 4 inch side score at 1/2 at each end. Glue the front and back sides onto the 1/2 inch tabs on the bottom. For the sides. You'll need 2 pieces of DSP 6x5. On the 5 inch sides, score every 1/2 inch across the entire paper. Fold up accordion style. Glue the front and the back pieces of cardstock the the DSP. So easy. I used brads to attach ribbon for a handle and you're done.

Don't you just love that accordion style side!

Plenty of room for more cards!
Supplies
Cardstock-Gable Green, Green Galore, Tempting Turquoise, Apricot Appeal, White and Rainbow sherbet DSP
All SU circle punches, dimensionals, brads, Turquise ribbon, Chit Chat rubons, scallop border punch

Tutorial Tuesday--basket

Not sure what to call this basket, but it's so easy to make and it's a great basket for ANY occasion. The first time I made these it was for Easter and Easter eggs fit perfectly in them. Great gift idea. They would make awesome party favors for any party.
Ok so lets get started, here's what you'll need. A 6x6 piece of cardstock, I'm using So Saffron. 6 pieces of DSP cut 1 3/4 x 1 3/4, again I'm using So Saffron. And brads or eyelets. I have brads in the picture, but halfway through the tutorial I decided I wanted to use jumbo eyelets, either one would work great. You'll also need a scoring tool-whatever you use to score.

Score your cardstock at 2 and 4 on both sides. You should end up with a tic tac toe grid.

Cut the tabs on the middle square on the top and the bottom rows.

Glue your 6 DSP square on the squares on the left and right sides.
There should be nothing glued in the center of your cardstock.

To make your basket, fold the right side over the center piece, then the left side over that. I'm using a tiny bit of adhesive to hold it together.

Use your crop a dial, (or if your using brads a smaller punch). Go through all three layers.
Put your eyelet in and set it.

Do the same to the opposite side.

Here's your basket almost done.

Cut some ribbon, and thread it through the eyelets and tie knots on the inside to hold it in. You can also make a handle with cardstock, if you do that make sure you secure it in place with your brad or eyelet in the previous step.
Here is the finished basket, full of M&M's.
Super cute and easy!
